KOTA BHARU:
The Covid-19 infection among children in Kelantan is worrying after the state registered a patient increase of 25%-30% at the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) in Kota Bharu district over the past two weeks.

Kelantan PKRC director Dr Mohd Zurairie Mohd Zubir said they suspected the increase could be due to the children getting the virus from adults in the family.

“To date, 218 children in category one and two are placed at the Dewan Pusat Tarbiyah Islamiah Kelantan (Putik) PKRC in Pengkalan Chepa and the Pengkalan Chepa Industrial Training Institute.

“The figure is alarming since the spread is difficult to contain and the children are still not vaccinated.”

He was speaking to reporters after receiving 200 food packs for children donated by the Tzu Chi Buddhist Association and Pertubuhan Gabungan Bantuan Bencana NGO Malaysia at the Tanjong Sepat PKRC today.

Zurairie also announced that the PKRC at SMK Kampung Laut had opened today. It has 250 beds.

This brings the total number of PKRCs in Kelantan to 13.
