In a statement today, the nation’s top cop said that several other individuals from the protest are still being identified through video recordings and photos.
“The insistence of organisers and participants on having the assembly, even though they were advised to prioritise safety, is irresponsible — especially during the pandemic,” he said.
Acryl Sani said police monitoring of the assembly found incidents in which the organisers and participants “clearly went against SOPs” set out in the national recovery plan and the regulations under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021.

He added that police had started investigations into the organisers and participants in accordance with the relevant legislations after they received more than 20 police reports from across the country on the protest.
He said police had issued several reminders to the public to follow SOPs during the national recovery plan so as to ensure public safety, adding that they had also reminded them that action would be taken against those who flout such SOPs.
Hundreds of protesters, made up of students and youth activists, descended on the capital yesterday calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet, a full parliamentary session, and an automatic loan moratorium for all.
The protest’s organisers, Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR), yesterday said five organisers were called to provide their statements at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters today.
Police estimated the crowd at the protest rally to be around 400 while SSR claimed 2,000 had shown up.
