PETALING JAYA:
A group of Kelantanese durian sellers who travelled to Selangor and Johor to purchase and deliver the king of fruits has created a community Covid-19 cluster in the east coast state.

Harian Metro reported Kelantan health director Dr Zaini Hussin as saying that the cluster, Kampung Baru Bukit Kecil Labok, involved the Machang and Kota Bharu districts.

He said the index case was a 15-year-old teenager who tested positive on July 18.

Up to Friday, 12 out of 38 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 in this cluster.

“The teenager travelled to Selangor and Johor between July 10 and 15. He was with a group of durian sellers to collect and deliver the fruit,” he said.

Besides the Kampung Baru Bukit Kecil Labok cluster, Zaini said another cluster (Kerilla) involved the Tanah Merah district in Kelantan and the Klang district in Selangor.

“The index case is a 38-year-old man who tested positive for Covid-19 on July 22.

“He travelled from Selangor to Kelantan on July 11 to attend his brother’s funeral before going back to the Klang Valley on July 15,” he said.

Zaini said nine out of 23 people had tested positive.
