Just like hosting a Raya open house, most of them who were smartly dressed in Raya outfits greeted their ‘guests’ with a welcoming smile and helped them throughout the vaccination process.
A Bernama check at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) PPV here found that the vaccination process went smoothly, with the help of about 400 medical staff and volunteers who were willing to forego celebrating Aidiladha, to ensure the success of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme.
For WTCKL PPV co-coordinator Mohd Fazli Ismail, working on Aidiladha was nothing strange for him, but this time around, the experience was a bit different.
“I feel so proud to be part of the country’s history in helping to facilitate the vaccination process for Malaysians.
“Medical staff and volunteers here have made a big sacrifice and they do their job without expecting anything in return,” he said.
Muhammad Afiq Mohd Zahari, 25, said the Aidiladha celebration this time was more meaningful as he was able to contribute to the country by being a volunteer at the mega PPV.
“I hope through this sacrifice, Malaysia can reach its herd immunity target soon and all of us can celebrate Hari Raya in a joyous mood next year,” he said.
Meanwhile, the operations at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre (Persada) PPV in Johor Bahru today began with the recitation of the takbir (prayer) by about 320 staff there.
Right after the takbir recitation, the PPV was serenaded with popular Raya songs to bring on the festive vibes.
Persada PPV chief coordinator Zainal Eran said as many as 3,000 individuals would receive their vaccine shot at the PPV today.
The same atmosphere was visible at the Movenpick KLIA PPV where staff and volunteers were seen wearing Raya outfits to brighten up the Aidiladha mood.
Earlier, Sepang district officer Mohamad Zain A Hamid, when met at the PPV, said that almost 99% of adults in the Sepang district had received their vaccination appointments through the MySejahtera application.
It has been learnt that some PPVs outside the Klang Valley were closed for Aidiladha today.
