ALOR GAJAH:
The Durian Tunggal police station will remain closed for four days from 2pm today as several cops tested positive for Covid-19, Alor Gajah district police chief Arshad Abu said.

He advised the public to go to other police stations, such as the Rumbia, Gadek and Machap Baru police stations, to obtain permits for inter-district or interstate travel and any other matters.

“However, the Durian Tunggal police station will continue to conduct crime-prevention patrols,” Arshad said in a statement.

This is the second police station in Melaka to be closed in a matter of days following the detection of Covid-19 cases.

On Saturday, Arshad said that the Kuala Sungai Baru police station would be closed until July 26, after several policemen tested positive for Covid-19.

“Those from the area and who wish to apply for inter-district and interstate travel permits could do so at either the Lubuk Cina police station or Masjid Tanah police station.

“Kuala Sungai Baru police community services including crime prevention patrols through patrol cars(MPV) and motorcycle patrol unit (URB) will continue as usual,” he added.

Arshad also said that people under the jurisdiction of the Durian Tunggal and Kuala Sungai Baru police stations can also contact the 24-hour operations room of the Alor Gajah district police headquarters (IPD) for help, at 06-5564153/06-5566573.
