Over one-third of adult population given at least 1 dose

Vaccination rate crosses 12 million mark in less than four months.

424,541 doses of vaccines were administered yesterday in line with the aim to inoculate 80% of the population by the end of the year.

Now into the fourth month of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme, Malaysia has crossed the 12 million mark, with 424,541 doses administered yesterday.

In a tweet, the Covid-19 vaccine supply access guarantee special committee (JKJAV) said 260,286 first doses and 164,255 second doses were given out yesterday, bringing the cumulative total to 12,212,730.

With that, 35.7% of the country’s adult population have received a vaccine dose. Sarawak, Labuan and the Klang Valley lead the way as far as single-dose coverage goes, with over half their population partially or fully vaccinated.

For full vaccinations, Labuan takes the lead with 48.7% of eligible recipients vaccinated, followed by Perlis and Sarawak.

Coordinating minister for the vaccine rollout Khairy Jamaluddin had said previously that he plans on getting 80% of the country’s adult population vaccinated by the end of the year.
