Tengku Zafrul, who is also the NRP coordinating minister, said it is not sustainable for the country to “open and close” a state.
“The NRP is a roadmap with specific planning to enable the people to return to normal life.
“Once a state is in Phase 2, if there are Covid-19 cases in a certain area or location, it will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), not the whole state,” he told reporters after conducting a survey at Kiosk D’Harmoni@9 and Precinct 9 Food Court here today.
To date, eight states have transitioned to Phase 2 of the NRP. They are Perlis, Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak.
He said other states would follow suit in transitioning to Phase 2 and subsequently Phase 3.
Tengku Zafrul said he conducted engagement sessions regarding the NRP with several political parties and stakeholders this week and would continue to hold such sessions in the near future.
He said the sessions are very productive and various inputs have been received especially regarding the aspect of health and aid to those affected in EMCO areas.
He added that discussions regarding NRP have been conducted with Pejuang, Umno, PAS, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Amanah, PKR, DAP, Bersatu, MCA, and MIC.
