Two areas in Sabah, one in Pahang to fall under EMCO

Deputy prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the enhanced movement control order at four localities in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Terengganu is set to end tomorrow.

The enhanced movement control order in localities in Pitas and Sandakan in Sabah, as well as Jerantut in Pahang, will run from July 15 to 28.

Two localities in Sabah and one in Pahang will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 15 to 28.

In a statement, deputy prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said these are the Lintas Sibuga people’s housing projects (PPR) in Sandakan, Sabah; Kampung Telaga and Kampung Pituru in Pitas, Sabah; and Felda Jengka 8 in Jerantut, Pahang.

In addition, the EMCO at four areas is set to end tomorrow.

They are PPR Pantai Ria and Taman Bukit Angkasa in Kuala Lumpur; Kampung Balung Cocos in Tawau, Sabah; and Kampung Kubang Jela in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.

The EMCO at Kampung Jaya Baru in Kunak, Sabah will end on Sunday while the EMCO at Taman Merbau Utama in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, is set to end on Monday.

He also said 416 people were arrested yesterday over movement control order-related offences, 372 of whom were issued compound fines and 44 remanded.

He said most of the offences were crossing districts or states without permission, as well as eating or drinking in restaurants (97).

Among the other offences were failing to provide materials for contact tracing registration (74) and activities that made physical distancing difficult (35).

The authorities also detained 47 undocumented migrants yesterday as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.

They also confiscated one vehicle and a boat.
