
In a statement, he said the state had met the three required thresholds, while the Phase 2 SOPs can be found at the National Security Council (MKN)’s website.
Ismail, who is also defence minister, announced the enforcement of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in several localities in Terengganu, Sabah and Perak, following a spike in Covid-19 cases in these areas.
The localities are:
- The Bidor and Batang Padang subdistricts in Perak
- Rumah Awam Kos Rendah (RAKR) Gong Pasir, Kampung Gong Pasir and Taman MAIDAM in Dungun, Terengganu
- Kampung Mangkubau Laut in Pitas, Sabah
- Ladang Sabah Mas Division Segama in Lahad Datu, Sabah
- Felda Umas 1,3, and 4 in Kalabakan, Sabah
- Taman Bukit Sepanggar in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah
The EMCO will be in effect from July 10 to July 23.
The EMCO at the Bestgrade Industrial Area in Pokok Sena, Kedah has been further extended to July 23. It was supposed to end tomorrow but Covid-19 infections were still being detected.
Meanwhile, the EMCO at Kampung Muhibbah in Kota Kinabalu, Flat Indah Jaya in Sandakan, and Politeknik Sultanah Bahiyah in Kulim will end as scheduled tomorrow.
Also, the EMCO at two foreign workers’ dormitories in Tangkak and Segamat in Johor will end earlier than scheduled. It was supposed to end on July 13 and July 16, respectively, but will now end tomorrow.
Ismail said some 556 people were arrested yesterday for flouting SOPs, with 523 fined, 32 remanded and one granted bail.
Meanwhile, the authorities also confiscated seven land vehicles and two boats under the ongoing Op Benteng.
He also said 56 premises, including factories, construction sites and business premises, were ordered to close yesterday for failing to comply with SOPs.
