Malaysia nearing 400,000 vaccine doses a day

The health minister says Putrajaya has the highest number of fully vaccinated individuals and Selangor the lowest.

A total of 10,036,361 doses have been administered since the national Covid-19 immunisation programme began.
PETALING JAYA:
The number of Covid-19 vaccines administered reached a record high of 375,842 doses yesterday.

Health minister Dr Adham Baba said some 207,795 received their first dose yesterday while 168,047 were administered their second dose.

In total, 10,036,361 vaccine doses have been administered since the national Covid-19 immunisation programme (PICK) began, he said in a tweet, with 13% of the adult population, or 9.3% of the population, fully vaccinated.

Vaccinations exceeded the 300,000-a-day mark for the first time on Tuesday, which Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said was in line with Putrajaya’s projections.

As of yesterday, Putrajaya had the highest rate of fully vaccinated individuals with 27.9%, followed by Labuan (20.3%), Perlis (19.2%), Kuala Lumpur (16.4%) and Sarawak (14.3%).

Selangor is the lowest among all states with only 6.4% of its population fully vaccinated.

In his tweet earlier, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Malaysia administered one million vaccinations in three days.
