
Deputy chief minister Douglas Uggah Embas hoped the federal government would consider this request.
“This is because Sarawak is a very big state, as big as Peninsular Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.
On the Covid-19 vaccination process in the state, Uggah said he was confident Sarawak could meet its target of vaccinating 2.2 million eligible people by the end of August.
Uggah, who is also the state Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman, said Sarawak would constantly fine-tune its existing mechanisms to facilitate the Covid-19 vaccination exercise so that it will be more efficient and effective.
“We had even achieved 65,000 doses per day but yesterday we only gave out 47,679 doses.
“We are going to increase this to 60,000 doses per day. We really have to catch up,” he added.
