Here is another list of names of groups providing food aid to those in desperate need.

The campaign encourages those who are struggling financially to reach out for help by displaying a white flag in front of their home as a sign that they need immediate assistance.
PETALING JAYA:
The “#BenderaPutih” (white flag) campaign is a community initiative to help those in desperate need of food and assistance in light of the worsening Covid-19 health and economic crisis.

The campaign, which went viral several days ago on social media, encourages those who are struggling financially to reach out for help without fear or shame by displaying a white flag in front of their home as a sign that they need immediate assistance.

Earlier, FMT had compiled a list of some individuals and organisations helping Malaysians in need. Here are additional names and avenues:

1. Zero Hunger Labuan

This initiative aims to provide food kits for families in Labuan. As at June 30, Zero Hunger has prepared 183 kits while distribution will begin on July 5.

Families who are facing food shortages can fill up this form to have food delivered to them.

Members of the public can also donate the food kit at RM50 per kit.

Individuals may also contact Michelle Alisa at 016-5850586 with regards to donations.

2. Pinto Thai Rice Pot, Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur

This restaurant in Wangsa Maju is offering food items to those in need from today to this Friday.

Those who need food assistance may collect the food at the restaurant.

3. Projek Bendera Putih

Those living in the Klang Valley, Selangor and Batu Pahat, Johor, can get basic food assistance such as rice and eggs by contacting Muhammad Izat Abu Talib at 018-2854893.

Donations are also welcomed via Maybank account number 154026666792.

4. Ohana’s Helping Hands Food Bank

Nur Syazwani Said runs a free food donation to those in desperate need in the listed locations:

  • Bangi/Kajang
  • Kuantan
  • Shah Alam
  • Klang
  • Cheras
  • Wangsa Maju
  • Kuala Terengganu
  • Johor Bahru

Those living within a 10km radius of the listed locations are eligible for food assistance.

Individuals may also donate via CIMB Bank Bhd account number 7621931843.

5. Awesome Canteen

Hungry individuals are encouraged to head over to this restaurant in Taman Paramount, Jalan 20/13, Petaling Jaya.

You just need to pass a piece of white paper to the restaurant’s workers to get a free meal.
