“Perlis has only one indicator left to achieve to move to Phase Three. That is, the level of two-dose vaccination has not reached 40% in the state,” he told reporters here today.
Local media previously reported that Perlis only needed about an additional 26% of its population to receive two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to enable the state to enter Phase Three of the recovery plan. This phase allows free movement of people and resumption of economic activities without restrictions.
To date, about 25% of Perlis’ residents have received the first dose of the vaccine while 14% have received two doses.
The three key threshold value indicators that need to be achieved to enable Perlis to move to Phase Two of the national recovery plan are that the national average daily Covid-19 cases should fall below 4,000, bed utilisation rate in intensive care units should be at a moderate level, and 10% of the state’s population should have received two complete doses of the vaccine.
Perlis has recorded less than five cases a day recently, with no cases on several days.
Azlan said the state government had also intensified efforts at the grassroots level to enable the vaccination process to be carried out immediately.
The media had also reported that Perlis, Kelantan and Terengganu are among the states that may move to Phase Two next week.
The decision to end the “total lockdown” in several states would be made by Putrajaya based on the three key threshold value indicators.
Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday stressed that Malaysia is still in Phase One in the national recovery plan, as the three key threshold value indicators have not yet been reached.
