This is because such drivers are not able to cross into neighbouring Brunei and subsequently send goods to Sarawak if they are not vaccinated, said state CVLB chairman Chin Kim Hiung.
Chin said the Brunei government will only allow commercial vehicle drivers who have completed their immunisation to cross its borders.
He pointed out that the drivers have to go through Brunei in order to get to Sarawak.
“With the Brunei government’s requirement, many of these drivers will not be able to get the goods to Sarawak seeing that it is not easy for them to get inoculated with the vaccine,” he said, in a statement here today.
“Therefore the transport ministry, through Sabah CVLB, is in the process of collecting the drivers’ data which will be forwarded to the Covid-19 vaccination committee for immediate action.
Chin urged all commercial vehicle drivers who have to travel to Sarawak to fill in the registration form and return it to the CVLB so they can submit it to the committee as soon as possible.
He added that the form for the national vaccination programme can be obtained on the Sabah CVLB’s Facebook page.
