KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah police have urged the public against making wild speculations and spreading rumours about the death of a man said to be the son of a business tycoon here.

State police commissioner Hazani Ghazali issued the advice after the discovery of the 42-year-old man’s body two days ago caused social media to go into overdrive with various speculation on his demise.

“The public should understand that the family members of the victim are still grieving. So, don’t add to that by making up stories,” he said, when met at an event in Kota Belud today.

“Don’t spread rumours or fake news.”

The man, reported to be the son of a local tycoon who has various business interests in the shipping, transport and tourism industries, was found dead by family members in his room at their house here on Wednesday.

Hazani reiterated today that police found no evidence to suggest foul play in the victim’s death at the moment.

He added they are also waiting for the autopsy report to confirm the cause of death.
