Speed up vaccination for civil servants, govt told

Cuepacs president Adnan Mat says civil service makes up the backbone of the country.

Cuepacs wants the vaccination process for civil servants to be sped up so they can deliver services to the people face-to-face.
PETALING JAYA:
Cuepacs has urged the government to speed up the national immunisation programme for civil servants, saying it was important because the public sector makes up the backbone of the country.

Cuepacs president Adnan Mat said if the government could accelerate the vaccination rate, civil servants could resume normal operations without the need to work from home anymore.

Public services, he said, would usually require face-to-face interaction with the public.

He also suggested that the government mobilise assets and resources from the government agencies while dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said assets such as department vehicles, desks, chairs and tents should be mobilised to quarantine centres, vaccination centres, district Covid-19 operations rooms, and health clinics, among others to combat the pandemic.

Additionally, he said Cuepacs has proposed that civil servants in Grade 54 and below contribute at least RM10 to a Covid-19 fund.

“This RM10 contribution can be made through salary deduction,” he suggested.

To date, a total of 1,052,145 individuals have had both doses of vaccines.

Health minister Dr Adham Baba said another 1,860,864 individuals had received the first dose, bringing the total number of doses administered to 2,913,009.
