KOTA KINABALU:
All businesses in Sabah except petrol stations must close shop by 7pm for the next two weeks, the state government announced today.

The state’s Covid-19 spokesman Masidi Manjun said the rule applies to all businesses, including those in the ‘essential’ category, such as restaurants, food trucks, stalls, sundry shops, mini-markets and hypermarkets.

Under the total lockdown which comes into effect tomorrow, dine-ins are not allowed and only takeaways and food deliveries are permitted.

“However, petrol stations and convenience stores inside the stations can operate from 6am to 8pm.”

He also said wholesale markets will be allowed to operate from midnight until 6am, while public markets can open from 6am to 3pm.

However, farmers’ markets, night markets and ‘tamu’ (weekly markets) will be closed during the lockdown.

On religious activities, Masidi said for both Muslim and non-Muslim houses of worship, a maximum of 12 committee members of the house of worship are allowed to be in the premises for prayers.

Aside from those SOPs, the other Covid-19 rules follow those set by the National Security Council.
