However, the Pontian MP said his party respected the decision of finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.
“We as human beings are not perfect, I respect the decision of the finance minister. I just want to express my sympathy.
“I respect the two figures, Tajuddin and Tengku Zafrul. I hope this gives us the wisdom and lessons to guide us in the future,” he said when contacted by FMT.
He said he did not dispute that the appointment of the role, or one’s dismissal from it, was under the purview of the finance ministry.
Maslan added that Tajuddin, who is also the Umno election director, appeared to have accepted the decision.
“I read his statement in our ‘group’, he was content and didn’t seem to say anything bad about it. He seemed to have accepted it calmly.
“I think that’s a sign of someone with a lot of experience in politics.”
Earlier, it was reported that the Umno Supreme Council member was sacked from the top post at Prasarana, effective immediately.
In a letter to Tajuddin dated May 26, Tengku Zafrul thanked Tajuddin for his services and informed him of his termination.
His dismissal follows the LRT accident in which two trains collided on Monday night between the KLCC and Kampung Baru stations on the Kelana Jaya LRT Line.
Out of the 213 passengers involved, more than 60 were sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment.
Tajuddin was heavily criticised over a press conference he held after visiting the crash site the morning after the incident.
Netizens branded him as insensitive and rude during the press conference, with many calling it a public relations “disaster” and demanding his resignation.
