Annuar Musa says mobile trucks will be in 60 convenient locations to offer vaccinations.

Federal territories minister Annuar Musa says another four trucks will be added to the three available now.
PETALING JAYA:
The federal territories ministry will introduce a mobile vaccination truck known as MyMedic to expedite Covid-19 vaccinations for Kuala Lumpur residents.

Federal Territories minister Annuar Musa said the trucks would run between designated locations on a scheduled basis.

Annuar said 60 locations will be identified, and these locations will be arranged by zones for logistical convenience.

“There are three trucks right now and we will add another four in the near future as they are currently being improved to meet certain standards,” he said.

For now, these vaccination trucks will focus on the elderly and vulnerable groups.

Annuar said mass testing would be launched to provide free Covid-19 RTK-Antigen tests to at least 20,000 elderly residents and people from at-risk communities beginning from June 1.

He added that vaccinations for three homeless shelters would begin on May 27.

According to Annuar, free online tuition classes will also be provided for all SPM candidates from June to October.

“It will be operated in cooperation with Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, schools and the district education office,” he said.

Another initiative called Federal Territories Free Trading Initiative would allow small traders in Kuala Lumpur to renew their temporary licences for free.

“I took the step of extending it further until December 2021. This means that those who have expired licences can renew them immediately and they will not be charged any fees,” Annuar said.

He added that young entrepreneurs would be able to start up their own business in KL under this new initiative, with DBKL providing them space in locations such as the Lorong Tuanku Abdul Rahman, an area popularly known for Ramadan bazaars.

However, he said, only one-third of its capacity would be open to prevent any violations of SOPs.

“Lastly, there will be more monitoring and enforcement of SOPs from DBKL through its KLWatch initiative to help handle the Covid-19 virus more efficiently,” Annuar said.
