In a statement, Lim said what the people really needed during the public health crisis was early access to Covid-19 vaccines and financial assistance.
“This reset will be an opportunity for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to show some leadership, take responsibility for mismanaging the public health crisis, provide direction for the country and stop passing the buck to his ministers.”
Lim said DAP was disappointed with the latest tightening of movement control order restrictions, as it failed to address the delivery of vaccines, an economic stimulus package and financial aid for the people.
He added that the people were “fed up with the loss of direction and lack of leadership” following the government’s announcement yesterday, adding that the delivery of a large portion of the vaccines had been delayed from June to July.
Senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced tighter movement restrictions for the peninsula and Labuan. He said Putrajaya had decided against a total lockdown in order to safeguard people’s livelihoods.
