Possible case of queue-jumping for Pfizer vaccine

Man claims he had to cite a name before vaccination and Khairy Jamaluddin's aide promises to investigate.

The vaccination of a man in his 20s, who did not meet the criteria for Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, has raised questions among netizens.
PETALING JAYA:
Several social media posts by an individual have prompted questions to be raised over queue-jumping for the Pfizer vaccine, which is being rolled out under Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Phase 2 is for senior citizens, the disabled and sufferers of chronic diseases.

The Instagram posts show a man in his 20s receiving the vaccine and a reader drew FMT’s attention to them.

In one post, the recipient clearly states that he has been administered the Pfizer vaccine.

“He definitely isn’t a frontliner, essential worker or a Phase 2 recipient,” the reader said.

An aide to science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry would investigate the matter.

The reader asked whether strings were pulled to enable the recipient to get the vaccine, saying it would be “disgusting” if this were so since some of his relatives are senior citizens who have yet to be given appointments for vaccination although they are registered under Phase 2.

When contacted by FMT, the vaccine recipient said he had received a call in the morning telling him to go for the jab, adding that he was surprised by the call.

He said he did not know what made him eligible for the Pfizer jab.

“I was also told to cite a name at the first counter,” he said, but declined to disclose the name.
