Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed said the man had last Thursday admitted to police that he had stabbed his college mate, also 24, believed to be over an argument over drug sales.
At a press conference here, Arjunaidi said the unnamed man had told investigating officers he had committed the murder at the balcony of the condominium.
Arjunaidi said that on arrival at the balcony of the condo unit on the 26th floor, the man suddenly pulled himself free from police custody and flung himself over the balcony. He suffered a broken skull from the fall and later succumbed to his injuries.
“The suspect requested to be brought to the balcony saying he wanted to show new evidence even though there was nothing there,” Arjunaidi was quoted by Bernama as saying.
He said the accompanying cops, along with a senior officer would now be investigated for negligence as the man escaped from their confinement, under Section 223 of the Penal Code.
He said the case would be referred to the prosecutor’s office for a consideration that the matter be further investigated by a coroner.
It was earlier reported that a 24-year-old college student had been stabbed to death at the same condominium by a fellow college mate, also aged 24.
The friend was then alleged to have shoved the victim over the balcony, causing him to fall and land on the second floor of a building that was under construction.
