However, they will have to undergo the RT-PCR test to confirm if they are infected.

Selangor’s free Covid-19 screening will cover every constituency until June 10.
PETALING JAYA:
Free Covid-19 screening among 8,585 Selangor residents has shown 388 potentially positive cases, menteri besar Amirudin Shari said.

The free screening was carried out by the state government from Saturday to yesterday at Kajang, Semenyih, Sungai Ramal, Balakong, Teratai, Dusun Tua, Pandan Indah and Lembah Jaya.

However, the programme used rapid antigen test kits, which are less accurate than the RT-PCR test.

If the result comes back positive, the RT-PCR test will be used to confirm the case.

In a Facebook post today, Amirudin said “silent carriers” – people who are unaware they have the virus – were a major contributing factor to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

He said these carriers were particularly worrying because they could transmit and infect high-risk groups.

The mass screenings will be held in every constituency until June 10 involving two constituencies each day.
