PASIR MAS:
More than 500 vehicles attempting to enter the state without an interstate travel permit were ordered to turn back yesterday, said Kelantan police chief Shafien Mamat.

He said these motorists were turned back between midnight and 5pm yesterday at the three main entry points to the state, namely Gua Musang, Pasir Puteh and Jeli.

Kelantan is one of the states placed under the movement control order.

Shafien said a handful of these road users even produced forms without the authorisation of any police station.

“We ordered them to turn back,” he told reporters after visiting Sekolah Kebangsaan Penggu, which serves as the control centre for the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) covering Mukim Bunut Susu early this morning.

Shafien said more than 100 personnel from the police, the armed forces, Rela and the civil defence would be on duty to control the three localities in Mukim Bunut Susu.

The EMCO for Kampung Paya Ular, Kampung Tualang and Kampung Bechah Palas will last until May 22. It affects more than 1,800 residents.

Shafien said police were also monitoring movements along more than 30 rat trails in the area.

“This EMCO is to facilitate healthcare personnel to conduct Covid-19 screening tests.

“If the people cooperate, then we can obtain the results quickly. I hope the people here will cooperate to facilitate matters,” he said.
