PETALING JAYA:
A dodol seller’s rush to make up for an order that had gone wrong ended in tragedy when she was killed in a collision along the Alor Gajah-Melaka Tengah highway this morning.

Melaka traffic investigation and enforcement department police chief Hasan Basri Yahya said the incident happened when Rohana Abdul, 42, tried to make a U-turn at a traffic light to head into the town at 6.20am.

“A car driven by a 20-year-old man, heading from Alor Gajah to the city, crashed into the victim’s car,” he was quoted as saying in Utusan Malaysia.

“The victim died at the scene due to severe head injuries while the young man suffered chest, thigh and neck injuries.”

The victim’s eldest daughter, Nur Aliyah Zaidi, 23, said her mother was informed that a dodol order sent to a customer in Krubong last night was less than what had been requested.

Rohana, the founder of Ana Dodol, promised to send the remainder of the order after dawn and borrowed Nur Aliyah’s car to do so.

“About 7am, I heard a knock on the door to my room,” said Nur Aliyah.

“When I opened it, my sister and a worker told me my mother had died.”

She said customers were still placing orders as they did not know about her mother’s passing.
