PETALING JAYA:
The Federation of Malaysian Business Associations (FMBA) has proposed several measures to ensure that businesses survive the latest round of the movement control order (MCO) to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

The measures outlined are:

  • using data-backed closure of business sectors;
  • targeted MCOs using the Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system;
  • proactive and inclusive SOPs; and
  • getting all businesses involved in the vaccination programme.

In a statement today, FMBA, which represents 950,000 businesses in 262 associations, said the use of data-backed decisions to close certain sectors while allowing others to remain open would avoid creating imbalances in the business ecosystem.

On targeted MCOs, it called for the HIDE system to be implemented for clear and measurable outcomes.

The association said the government needs to be proactive and inclusive in implementing SOPs while allowing the private sector to work with government agencies.

FMBA also said the government must speed up private sector participation in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

The association said it welcomes the implementation of MCO 3.0 as a means of curbing and containing the spread of Covid-19.
