No inter-district travel during Hari Raya in Sabah

Hari Raya visits will be allowed within each district but will be capped at 20 people per household, says state minister.

Kota Kinabalu (above), Putatan and Penampang will be categorised as one district during the upcoming festive season, says Sabah minister.
KOTA KINABALU:
The Sabah government is banning inter-district travel from May 10 to 16 to curb the spread of Covid-19 infections during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri season.

State housing and local government minister Masidi Manjun said this was to prevent the mass movement of people during the festive period.

“During this period, Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang will be categorised as one district. The police will set up roadblocks to monitor inter-district travel during this period,” he told FMT.

Hari Raya house visits will be allowed but capped at 20 people per household, subject to the size of the house. This can only involve close family members, and visits must be within a district.

Sunat prayers, graveyard visits of six persons at a time and after-prayer banquets will be allowed although, for the latter, the food must be packed and distributed for congregants to take home.

Open houses and other Hari Raya activities will not be permitted in the state.

However, all Hari Raya activities are strictly prohibited in areas that have been placed under the enhanced movement control order.
