Messages widely shared over WhatsApp claimed that with the CMCO, standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as two persons in one vehicle, closure of public facilities like schools, places of worship and the inter-district travel ban will be reinstituted.
But Masidi, who is also the state local government and housing minister, said no changes will be made, adding the regulations in place during the previous recovery MCO will be maintained.
He said the state government decided to keep the RMCO SOPs in order to ensure economic recovery is not disrupted.
“It’s fake (the message). We will continue to use the RMCO SOPs,” he said, when contacted.
“The state government decided so in order to speed up activities to restore the economic sector as long as they do not impede efforts to combat the spread of Covid-19.”
Yesterday, Masidi announced that, among others, Sabah will maintain the travel restrictions which allow people to travel between districts according to six respective zones in the state.
Sabah will go under CMCO tomorrow until May 17 due to the state registering more red areas than green ones.
Meanwhile, Masidi said Sabah detected 87 new infections in the past 24 hours, an increase of five cases from yesterday.
He said this is due to the new Madai cluster in Kunak which reported 19 cases.
He added the existing clusters in Kota Kinabalu contributed 17 cases while the cluster in Tawau recorded 16 cases, Sandakan (15) and Lahad Datu (8).
