KUALA LUMPUR:
The conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and Sarawak has been extended another two weeks, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

Sabah, which was under recovery MCO, will also be placed under CMCO from tomorrow onwards. The CMCO in the five states and the federal territory will last until May 17.

Meanwhile, Kelantan will remain under MCO for another two weeks, while Perlis, Pahang, Kedah, Perak, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Labuan and Melaka stay under RMCO.

He added that interstate travel was still not allowed except for tourism activities in RMCO states under the government’s green travel bubble initiative. Inter-district travel continues to be banned in Sabah and Sarawak.

Ismail also said the standard operating procedure for Hari Raya Aidilfitri was still being studied by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia, National Security Council and health ministry.

When asked if the government would bring back the work-from-home policy with schools set to close for two weeks after Hari Raya, he said Putrajaya will be discussing this with stakeholders.

He added that the international trade and industry ministry will discuss the policy with stakeholders in the private sector, in order to help working parents whose children have to attend online classes from home.

Ismail also announced enhanced MCOs (EMCOs) at PPR Batu 2 Lorong Habib Abdul Rahman and PPR Batu 8 Jalan Apas in Tawau; Kompleks Abedon in Kinabatangan; and Felda Umas in Kalabakan, all of which are in Sabah.

SMK Ulu Balingian in Sibu, Sarawak will also go under a full lockdown. The EMCOs in the five localities will commence tomorrow and last until May 11.

Meanwhile, the EMCO at Kampung Baru Pasir Putih has been extended to May 12, while the lockdowns at Kampung Ranggu Batu 10, Fasa Dua Taman Semarak and Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat will end on schedule on April 28. All of these localities are in Tawau.

The EMCO at Politeknik Mukah in Sarawak will also end tomorrow, earlier than scheduled.

He also said 282 people were arrested by the police yesterday over MCO-related offences, with 277 fined and five remanded. They were mostly punished for failing to wear face masks, not adhering to physical distancing, and not registering when entering a premise.

The authorities also detained 19 undocumented migrants and confiscated five land vehicles yesterday as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.
