PETALING JAYA:
Fugitive businessman Nicky Liow’s Datuk Seri title has been immediately revoked by the Pahang Palace, according to Bernama.

Liow, 33, is wanted by police on suspicion of being involved in organised crime such as fraud syndicates and money laundering. Interpol has issued a red notice for his arrest.

In a statement, Pahang state secretary Sallehuddin Ishak said Liow’s brother, Wei Loon, also had his Datukship revoked.

“The revocation of the awards was made on the order issued by the Pahang Sultan and the nominees are not allowed to use any title bestowed previously.

“The nominees must also return the awards to the state secretary’s office in line with the Pahang emblems, titles or awards enactment,” he added.

Police have arrested 68 individuals believed to be members of Liow’s gang while also seizing 16 luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce and five Alphards, and foreign currency totalling over RM7 million in 70 raids conducted between March 20 and March 28.

It was previously revealed that Liow had informants within the police force. A former deputy public prosecutor was also believed to be among those who leaked information on a police operation aimed at arresting Liow.

Last week, a senior police officer was arrested over alleged ties to Liow, with Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay expecting more personnel within the force to be detained.
