PETALING JAYA:
Former PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar, who has been lying low since his resignation from the party, came out in public again when he uploaded a picture of himself on social media – only to be met with a chorus of jeers and sneers.

He shared on Facebook a moment of himself with senior minister Azmin Ali at an event and social media users hit out and mocked him.

Some slammed him as a hypocrite and a “lalang”, a term used to describe someone of no integrity.

One Ganesh MN said the former federal minister should start counting his days. “Come GE15 you’re finished. The voters will teach you a great lesson,” he said referring to the next general election.

Another commenter, Daljit Singh, said Xavier should read the comments on his Facebook page and to self-reflect, while Siva Kumar hoped Xavier loses his deposit in the next elections.

Some social media users were also bemused by the term “teman-teman seperjuangan” or “fellow comrades” that Xavier had used in the post to describe Azmin in the picture, while others made reference to the investigation he faces from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

Some also labelled Xavier a “frog”, a term used to describe defectors.

Xavier had announced his resignation from PKR a month ago, saying he had become “extremely frustrated” following the events of the past year.

On Feb 24, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed that the anti-graft agency was also investigating Xavier, following the arrest of his close associate MA Tinagaran a week earlier.

PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail responded to the resignation saying the former water, land and natural resources minister had told the leadership that MACC had made him a “target” of a plethora of investigations.
