Claims on social media that a host of schools in Kota Kinabalu and neighbouring Penampang district had recorded a spike in infections were untrue, state Covid-19 spokesman Masidi Manjun said.
“Only five schools have positive cases, namely SJK (C) Shan Tao KK with three cases, SJK (C) Chung Hwa Likas (1), SJK (C) Chung Hwa KK (2) and SM Shan Tao (3),” he said in his daily briefing today.
“Another school is SRK Lok Yuk Likas where a teacher had tested positive in February.”
He said no infections were recorded at four other schools that were rumoured to have Covid-19 cases, namely SJK (C) Yue Min Penampang, Yue Min Kindergarten Penampang, St James Likas and Menggatal Lok Yuk Kindergarten.
Meanwhile, Masidi said Sabah recorded 160 cases in the last 24 hours, which puts the accumulative cases in the state at 57,324 cases.
A total of 994 patients are still receiving treatment at hospitals, low-risk treatment centres and temporary detention centres for illegal immigrants or prisons.
