KUCHING:
Sarawak has been assured that it will get sufficient Covid-19 vaccines to ensure that the state completes its vaccination programme by August.

Sarawak deputy chief minister Douglas Uggah Embas said Khairy Jamaluddin, who is the minister coordinating the Covid-19 immunisation programme, had given him the assurance.

“I visited him at his office in Putrajaya yesterday and he assured us that we will get the vaccines to facilitate our plan to complete our immunisation programme,” he said in a statement today.

Sarawak has targeted to vaccinate at least 70% or 2.2 million people in the state by August.

Uggah said the federal government recognised and appreciated the state’s immunisation programme and was prepared to help Sarawak meet the deadline.

“They are ready to help us incorporate all those registrations (done manually) for the vaccination into their system.

“I am very optimistic that our roll-out programme will be on schedule,” he said.

Uggah has urged Sarawakians who have not registered themselves to be vaccinated to do so immediately.

They can do this via three methods, namely, registration through MySejahtera, health ministry’s vaccination website (www.vaksincovid.gov.my) or approach their respective district or resident’s offices to register themselves.
