Why the silence on probe into Muhyiddin audio, says Puad

Umno supreme council member says the rakyat have been waiting for an explanation for nearly a year.

Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi questioned the silence from MACC and the police.
PETALING JAYA:
Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi has questioned the delay in the investigation into an unconfirmed audio clip of PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin allegedly enticing Umno leaders with government positions last year.

Puad noted that the Muhyiddin government’s appointment of ministers from Umno was controversial as they were not in line with the party’s hierarchy and there were no discussions held about the matter.

“Their appointments look to be a political agenda, and until today, there are two clusters of ministers who are acting as PPBM spokespeople,” said Puad in a posting on his Facebook page.

Six MPs from Umno were appointed as ministers when Muhyiddin Yassin formed his government in March last year following the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government.

The recording of Muhyiddin allegedly making the offer of positions in his government was said to have been made at a PPBM supreme council meeting on Feb 23 last year, a day before the collapse of the PH government. Muhyiddin was appointed as prime minister on March 1.

Puad said the rakyat had been waiting for an explanation from the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission and the police for nearly a year. “Why is it taking so long? They shouldn’t be so quiet.”

Last July, MACC chief Azam Baki said an initial report had been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the commission was awaiting further instructions.

Azmi said the investigation centred on the authenticity of the recording and whether what was allegedly said was an offence or not.
