KOTA BHARU:
More than 80% of the facilities being used to treat Covid-19 patients in eight hospitals in Kelantan have been utilised, state executive councillor Dr Izani Husin said today.

In addition the five Covid-19 low risk quarantine and treatment centres have met their maximum capacity, Izani said.

Kelantan recorded 171 new cases yesterday, bringing the total cumulative positive cases to 7,021, with 21 clusters still active.

Izani said the eight hospitals used for Covid-19 treatment were Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, Machang Hospital, Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital, Kuala Krai Hospital, Jeli Hospital, Tengku Anis Hospital, Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital and Tanah Merah Hospital.

“We must be aware that the hospitals have other patients who need treatment and they must also be given priority. As such, it was agreed that the tarawih prayer venue at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium will be converted into a low-risk treatment centre as we anticipate an increase in cases.

“Currently we have over 100 daily new cases and several hundred test results are still pending. The people must be made aware of this,” he said adding that cases involving the community had increased to 22%.

Izani spoke to reporters after a state security council meeting today. He said all Ramadan bazaars had been cancelled and all state government functions were also called off.
