Back off, Selangor MB’s pol sec tells pro-Anwar groups

She lambasts them for asking menteri besar Amirudin Shari and 8 other Azmin-linked PKR reps to give GE15 a miss.

Juwairiya Zulkifli has asked Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor not to interfere in PKR’s selection of candidates for GE15.
PETALING JAYA:
Outsiders should not interfere in the selection of candidates for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the next general election (GE15) as it can harm ties within the coalition, says an aide to the Selangor menteri besar.

Juwairiya Zulkifli, the political secretary to Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari, said the selection of candidates was a matter for the top leadership to decide and any outside interference should be rejected.

“PH is facing various tests and attacks. There should be no ‘outside party’ interfering in the party’s internal decision-making process, let alone when it comes to selection of candidates,” she told FMT.

Juwairiya, who is also the Bukit Melawati assemblyman, urged PH components, particularly PKR, to take action against supporters and members who undermine their party.

“The party must act against members who are involved in activities or movements that can split the party and attack the party leadership. This matter should not be left alone because it can cause confusion among members,” she said.

Her comments come in response to calls from pro-Anwar groups Gerakan Reformasi 98 (Gerak98) and Otai Reformis for Amirudin of PKR and eight other state assemblymen not to contest in GE15 as they were once linked to former PKR member Azmin Ali, who is now in PPBM.

Gerak98 chief Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor said this was to give way to new faces and show that they are really fighting in the spirit of reforms.

Juwairiya added that opposition support groups, including Gerak98 and Otai Reformis, should be the driving force behind strengthening the opposition bloc.

She urged supporters and pro-PH non-governmental organisations not to make baseless allegations that could divide the party.
