9 new Covid-19 clusters, 6 involving the workplace

The clusters are in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Johor, Sarawak and Terengganu.

Tracing of close contacts is going on in the cluster areas.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected nine new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

In a statement, he said six of them were workplace clusters and three were community clusters.

Two clusters each were detected in Selangor, Sarawak and Johor. One cluster each was detected in Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Clusters that recorded the most cases today were the Sungai Kluang Empat (30), Rich Park (28), and Kampung Belaoh (24).

The new clusters are:

Selangor

  • Industri Jalan Kebun – a workplace cluster in Klang and Petaling. Positive cases were detected on April 7 after a screening of factory workers at the Techno Industrial Park in Klang. Some 111 people were screened, with 35 testing positive.
  • Kampung Kelanang – a community cluster in Kuala Langat. The index case was detected on April 6 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. Of the 33 people screened, 12 tested positive.

Sarawak

  • Pujut Satu – a workplace cluster in Miri. The index case was detected on March 29 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. Some 116 people were screened, with 24 testing positive.
  • Jalan Kapitan – a community cluster in Marudi. The index case was detected on March 30 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. Of the 182 people screened, 22 tested positive.

Johor

  • Jalan Kempas Satu – a workplace cluster involving Muar. Positive cases were detected on April 10 after a screening of factory workers at Jalan Kempas 1, Bukit Bakri, Muar. Some 279 people were screened, with eight testing positive.
  • Jalan Padu Industri – a workplace cluster involving Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on April 8 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. Some 270 people were screened, with 15 testing positive.

Kuala Lumpur

  • Jalan Tun Ismail – a workplace cluster in Kepong, Titiwangsa, and Cheras The index case was detected on April 2 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. This cluster involves employees of a public service office and close contacts of positive cases. Of the 32 people screened, 15 tested positive.

Kelantan

  • Bandar Baru Kubang Kerian – a workplace cluster involving Tumpat, Bachok, and Kota Bharu. The index case was detected on April 7 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. This cluster involves workers of a financial institution in Bandar Baru, Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu. Some 344 people were screened, with 34 testing positive.

Terengganu and Kelantan

  • Kampung Tanjung – a community cluster in Kuala Nerus and Dungun in Terengganu and Pasir Puteh in Kelantan. The index case was detected on April 6 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. Of the 273 people screened, 13 tested positive.
