EMCO at villages in Terengganu, Sabah

Three villages in Terengganu and one in Sabah will go under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) following a spike in Covid-19 cases there, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today.

The three villages in Terengganu are Kampung Belaoh, Kampung PPRT Belaoh Baru and Kampung Keruak. All three localities are in the Hulu Besut sub-district.

Meanwhile, in Sabah, Kampung Murni C in Nabawan will also go under EMCO.

The EMCO in the four localities will come into effect tomorrow and is set to last until April 20.

On the enforcement actions taken over the past 24 hours, Ismail said 95 people were arrested for flouting the rules under MCO. Of the 95, 86 people were issued compounds and nine were remanded.

Among the offences were crossing state or district borders without permission (38), failure to record personal details with the MySejahtera app (31), activities at entertainment centres (17), failure to wear face masks (eight), and flouting of physical-distancing rules (one).

Ismail also said authorities caught three illegal immigrants and seized three vehicles under Op Benteng.
