34 officers in cahoots with ‘Geng Nicky’, says IGP

Abdul Hamid Bador says these enforcement officers and personnel will be arrested soon.

Abdul Hamid Bador says police are still tracking Liow, who is believed to be linked to syndicates involved in various scams.
KUALA LUMPUR:
A total of 34 uniformed personnel are in cahoots with ‘Geng Nicky’, a gang linked to businessman Nicky Liow Soon Hee, the country’s top cop Abdul Hamid Bador said, hours after 68 members of the gang were arrested.

The inspector-general of police said these officers and personnel from various enforcement agencies would also be arrested soon.

Hamid said he would take action against police officers who are believed to have helped the syndicate.

“No more warnings. Sufficient warnings have been given in the past for them to sever any ties with this gang.

“But it looks like there are some traitors in the force,” he said at a press conference in Bukit Aman this evening.

Hamid said no police personnel or enforcement officers from the other agencies had been arrested yet.

“We are investigating those (involved in the syndicate) based on a list we obtained. Once we are confident we have sufficient evidence (we will arrest them).

Hamid also said he was curious to find out who had been on the take or paid to turn a blind eye before and during his tenure as the IGP.

Hamid also said two ‘Datuk Seris’ and six ‘Datuks’ were among those who were nabbed in 70 raids conducted between March 20 and March 28.
