Police seek extradition of three Thais over killing of GOF cop

Efforts are being made to extradite three Thai citizens suspected of the killing of a General Operations Force corporal near the Perlis-Thai border in November.
Baharuddin Ramli died at the scene of the shootout.

The Inspector-General of Police, Abdul Hamid Bador, said the home minister had recently signed the formal extradition request for the three men to be arrested and brought to Malaysia to face a murder charge.

Hamid said every effort would be made to ensure that all suspects in the case were brought to justice.

Norihan a/l Tari was shot in the stomach.

In November, corporal Baharuddin Ramli of GOF Battalion 3 (Senoi Praaq) was killed during a shootout with a group of about 13 smugglers at Border Wall 9 near Padang Besar. Baharuddin’s colleague Corporal Norihan a/l Tari, who was also shot in the stomach, recovered from his injuries and resumed duties two weeks later.

The two men were promoted to sergeant and awarded the Panglima Gagah Berani medal for extreme bravery and valour in combat.

Two Thai smugglers were arrested by security forces after the shooting, while four others were arrested by Thai police.
