“As an immediate measure, contractors have been instructed to stop working on-site except for rescue work including structural stabilisation work,” said the chairman of LLM, Shuhaimi Hassan.
The second measure is to provide temporary access for residents of Puncak Banyan Condominium.
“Thirdly, highway users have to be informed regarding the temporary access plan in all mediums of communication,” he said in a statement.
Shuhaimi added that as a last measure, SUKE has also been asked to inspect all gantry launchers and beams that have been rolled out at the construction site.
He also said SUKE has received approval for the full closure of existing roads in Taman Leng Seng (Zone 2) and Jalan Alam Damai (Zone 3).
However, in Persiaran Alam Damai (Zone 1), SUKE must ensure that there was an alternative route first before it can get permission to close Persiaran Alam Damai.
Currently, Shuhaimi said the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) are investigating the cause of the incident and will submit a report to the government.
Yesterday, three people died when a launcher crane toppled at the construction site of SUKE near Puncak Banyan, Persiaran Alam Damai, Cheras.
