PETALING JAYA:
Air Selangor’s first group of 12 budding plumbers received their certificates yesterday after completing a five-day course.

Launched by Air Selangor in collaboration with Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) last August, the Plumber Apprenticeship Programme was created for individuals who lost their jobs as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme is also part of their ongoing efforts to provide new career opportunities and generate income in the water utility service and repair field, Air Selangor said in a statement last night.

Air Selangor corporate communication head Elina Baseri said the participants from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya underwent a course that included 25% theoretical learning and 75% practical learning.

“They have received an ABM Certificate of Achievement and a green card from the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) in recognition of their skills.

“In addition, participants also received a toolbox that can be used while they carry out their tasks,” she said.

Registration for the programme is still open, said Elina, especially for those who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
