The first phase of the immunisation programme will involve health and non-health frontliners, as well as all MPs and state assemblymen. It is expected to end in April.
The second phase will involve Covid-19 high-risk groups, namely senior citizens, vulnerable individuals with comorbidities and disabled persons. This will run from April to August, involving about 9.4 million people.
The third phase of the programme will focus on adults aged 18 and above, and jabs will be administered from May this year to February next year, running concurrently with the second phase.
However, Khairy Jamaluddin, who is the programme’s coordinator, said it could be wrapped up before the end of the year if all goes well.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah were the first two people in Malaysia to receive the Covid-19 vaccine earlier today.
They were joined by four other frontliners, and were administered the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at the Putrajaya district health office.
