Deputy Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said all the men were suspected of threatening to carry out organised cyberattacks on government and private websites.
“The arrests were made following threats by the group to hack government computer systems over the past few years,” he was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.
Among those arrested in the raids conducted in Pahang, Johor, Perak and the Klang Valley include the administrator of the Anonymous Malaysia Facebook page.
All the suspects detained were between 20 and 40 years old.
Acryl Sani said police are still conducting investigations to identify any remaining suspects, adding that the group might have already hacked up to 17 websites.
He added that the suspects were also allegedly responsible for hacking the systems belonging to the Johor and Sabah state governments as well as the international trade and industry ministry.
