Sarawak PKR chairman denies quitting to join opposition party

Julau MP Larry Sng says he is not joining Parti Sarawak Bersatu.

Julau MP Larry Sng says he will continue to lead Sarawak PKR as it prepares for the coming state polls.
KUCHING:
Julau MP Larry Sng has denied that he will be stepping down as Sarawak PKR chairman to join the opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

“No, I am not leaving PKR. I have no intention to join PSB,” he told FMT.

Sng said he will continue to lead Sarawak PKR as it prepares for the coming state election.

He was asked about a Facebook post by PKR member Iswardy Morni, who claimed Sng had resigned from the party and joined PSB.

“If I were to do so, I would have announced it myself or issued an official statement,” he said, adding that he was unaware of the Facebook post.

“I don’t read his post,” he said.

Asked if the party would take action against Iswardy, Sng said it was not necessary to do so.

“I don’t think it is necessary for me to validate his comments, especially since he is not even an office-bearer in the party,” he said.

In December last year, Sng announced he would step down as the state PKR chairman as it was in the best interest of the party to be led by a Dayak leader going into the 12th state election.

However, he decided to remain as interim chairman days later, after meeting with party president Anwar Ibrahim.
