Bukit Aman’s Management Department director Ramli Din said currently 41 trainees were still positive and were undergoing quarantine at the centre here.
“Earlier, 78 police trainees tested positive but the number has now decreased as many have recovered.
“Hence, we are waiting for the situation to completely recover before we allow training to resume,” he told reporters after visiting the Mega Frontliner Sales stalls in Keramat Wangsa here.
Police training centres are located in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.
He said the police have collaborated with the health ministry to carry out sanitisation works at its Kuala Lumpur and Segamat training centres.
“Sanitisation work at Pulapol in other states are also being conducted but the number of Covid-19 infections is small,” he said.
Commenting on the new recruitment for officers and policemen during the Covid-19 period, Ramli said it was continuing as usual but on a limited scale.
“Today, we still held physical examinations for new recruits to fill vacancies. We have selected only 3,800 for the 7,200 positions available.”
Ramli said the police had strict standard operating procedures in place during the recruitment exercise.
