PETALING JAYA:
A total of 20,089 Covid-19 patients are currently self-isolating at home, according to the health ministry.

In a statement today, health-director general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 6,016 of them were in Johor, and 5,258 were in Selangor.

There were 4,489 self-isolating patients in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, followed by Melaka (968), Perak (936), Kelantan (731), Negeri Sembilan (607), Penang (531), Pahang (229), Terengganu (155), Kedah (116), Perlis (27), Sabah (23) and Labuan (three).

Noor Hisham added that no patients were undergoing self-isolation in Sarawak, as the state’s hospitals and the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres were still capable of taking in category 1 and 2 patients.

He said all patients were being monitored by their respective Covid-19 Assessment Centres. There are a total of 152 such centres across the country, which have monitored 60,052 people so far.

All patients at home are required to wear wristbands for the 10-day isolation period. They must also conduct a self-assessment through a home assessment tool provided by the assessment centre and the MySejahtera mobile application.

The setting up of the assessment centres comes after the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the country, causing hospitals and low-risk centres to reach full capacity in handling those who tested positive.
