Korean pastor pleads not guilty to 3rd molest charge

A Korean pastor from a church for the deaf and mute, charged with outraging the modesty of a man 21 years ago, pleaded not guilty in the magistrates’ court here today.

Jee Jong Hoon, 54, was accused of groping the genitals of the man, now 40, and forcibly hugging and kissing him at a house at Lorong Delima 3 in Island Glades in 2000.

No plea was recorded when he was first charged on Dec 29, 2020 as there was no interpreter present. Jee posted bail of RM6,000 and his passport was impounded.

Today, he claimed trial when the charge was read to him in international sign language by an interpreter from the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya.

Magistrate Rosnee Mohd Radzuan fixed March 15 for mention to allow submission of documents. Jee was represented by Sobini Kobu, while deputy public prosecutor Azlin Zeti Zainal Abidin prosecuted.

Jee faces another two charges of outraging the modesty of two other men. He was charged in the Butterworth magistrates’ court on Dec 18, 2020. The court fixed March 4 for mention of the charges.
