
He said 404 of them were slapped with compound fines, while 21 were remanded and another was released on bail.
Ismail said among the offences were failure to wear face masks, crossing districts or states without permission, and failure to provide materials for contact tracing or registration.
“Twenty were arrested for dining in restaurants. Six of them were arrested for holding receptions without permission,” he added.
A total of 2,957 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on supermarkets, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks and transport terminals.
Ismail also said the authorities also arrested 23 illegal immigrants and seized five vehicles along with two boats under the Op Benteng joint operation.
He added that 112,941 people had arrived through KLIA between July 24, 2020 and Jan 29 this year from various countries.
A total of 477 people were sent to hospital for treatment while 104,706 were allowed to return home and 931 people are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine.
Ismail also said up to Friday, a total of 251,101 foreign workers had been screened for Covid-19. Of that number, 4,735 tested positive.
