KUCHING:
An Indonesian construction worker was sentenced to six months’ jail for outraging the modesty of a nurse at a government hospital in Kuching last year.

The accused, Kusno, 52, admitted to the charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code and pleaded guilty before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali today.

His jail term started on the date he was nabbed, which was Aug 18, 2020.

The accused was admitted to the hospital due to leptospirosis on Aug 8, 2020.

He had committed the offence on the 23-year-old nurse the next day at around 8pm.

He was alleged to have approached the nurse who was preparing medications for other patients at the ward and said: “I want that.”

Unsure about the request, the nurse asked him to repeat what he wanted. He went on to touch the victim’s private part and said: “This.”

The nurse quickly ran to her colleagues at the counter for help before lodging a police report.

Kusno, from West Java, Indonesia, will be deported after serving his jail sentence.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case.
